Tender Archive is an interactive installation that grew over the run of “We” at Pen + Brush Gallery (January 18th- February 24th, 2024). Last year, as I combed through thousands of photos on my phone, certain images stood out, yearning to emerge from a thumbnail on a tiny screen and become concrete objects. As I rendered my memories in ink, I thought about what it would look like to extend this possibility to my community. In this evolving piece, visitors sent photos imbued with memory; that captured a significant moment, place, or person. I painted people’s images and added them to the wall over the course of the show. My hope is that the resulting installation embodied the possibility of exchange, community, and our collective sense of wonder. All works, unless marked sold, are available for purchase.
